Overview

  • Ward: Scarborough-Rouge River (Ward 42)
  • Activity: Overhead/Underground Rebuild
  • Timeline: October 2013 - September 2014
  • Status: Completed

Toronto Hydro - Electric System Limited (“Toronto Hydro”) is planning to rebuild the aging overhead / underground electrical system in the community. The rebuild includes replacing hydro poles with some underground work within the City of Toronto’s public property allowance in front of or adjacent to the lot.

Once construction begins, Toronto Hydro crews and contractors will take extra care and precaution to minimize inconveniences. Please be advised that as a result of the project, Toronto Hydro’s contractor may be trimming a number of the overgrown trees on the public road allowance in order to accommodate new hydro infrastructure. Upon project completion, affected areas will be restored to pre-construction conditions.

Toronto Hydro is pleased to report that the electrical phase on Project MEADOWVALE / HEATHERBANK is underway. Our crews and contractors will be working in your neighbourhood from early March until late April 2014. The existing system is nearing the end of its life expectancy and this project will improve service reliability and reduce the frequency of outages.

Please exercise caution as we energize the new electrical system within the overhead and underground services on your street. Throughout Project MEADOWVALE / HEATHERBANK, power interruptions may be necessary to switch from the old to the new electrical system.  Toronto Hydro will provide advance notice prior to any planned outages.

Upon project completion, affected sidewalks will be temporarily restored with asphalt and the City of Toronto will complete permanent restorations. Other affected areas will be restored to pre-construction conditions. This repair work will be done as weather and scheduling permits.
