Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (“Toronto Hydro”) is planning to upgrade the aging underground electrical system in the community. This project is part of Waterfront Toronto’s initiative to transform Queens Quay into a world-class showpiece for Toronto’s waterfront. The project includes the construction of new cable chambers and the replacement of aging underground primary cables within the City of Toronto’s public road allowance in front of, or adjacent to, your lot. This work is important in planning for future growth and capacity requirements in the downtown core.
The project boundaries include Queens Quay West between Yo-Yo Ma Lane (East) and Yonge Street (West). Throughout this project, power interruptions may be necessary to switch from the old to the new electrical system. Toronto Hydro will aim to notify customers via letter to provide advance notice prior to any planned outages.
Once construction begins, Toronto Hydro crews and contractors will take extra care and precautions to help minimize any inconveniences. Any portion of the driveway and other areas affected by our work will be replaced to pre-construction conditions. Upon project completion, repair work will be completed as season, weather and schedule permits.
